Beaver Section Report for 2009
The Beaver section has had another successful year and numbers have remained high, in fact we are full and have a waiting list.
The year started with two new helpers coming on board in the form of Anita Saunders and Helen Sheppard. Thank goodness they did or I dread to think what would have happened. They settled in really well and at Christmas both decided that as they were there they may as well come into uniform. What a team they make! And it is great to have them on board.
The Beavers have enjoyed a varied program throughout the year. They have learnt all about healthy eating, visited the fire station as part of their community challenge; earned their Emergency Aid badge and even made up their own recipes for puddings in the Ready, Steady Pudding challenge. The judges had a lovely tasting session as you can imagine.
The Beavers also had an opportunity to have a Beaver Sleepover this year. A couple of dads came along and we had a great time – Oh, so did the Beavers. They even slept in tents! – indoors that is, before any of you in the know, tell me that they are not allowed to camp! Where is your imagination? Ours was running riot!!!!! Anyway it proved to be very successful and even the leaders and helps had a good time – didn’t you guys?
All in all it has been a brilliant year and my thanks go to those that have helped and the leaders, Hope, Dan and welcome back to Fiona. But thanks goes to Anita and Helen for taking over the leadership of this fine team.
